Phase 1 — Pre-Hire Screening

  • Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
  • Valid driver's license verification

  • Shaken Baby Syndrome / Abusive Head Trauma training (for drivers of children under 5)

Phase 3 — Emergency Preparedness

  • Emergency evacuation procedures
  • Accident response protocol

  • Breakdown and unauthorized pickup procedures

Phase 4 — Vehicle Operations

  • Daily pre-trip inspection protocol
  • Post-trip child check protocol
  • Child safety alarm system operation
  • Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness standards

Phase 5 — Road Ready

  • Supervised ride-along with experienced driver
  • Route familiarization
  • Final evaluation and clearance

Emergency Procedures

Vehicle Accident

Immediate child safety assessment, emergency services contact, facility and parent notification protocol.

Medical Emergency

First aid response, 911 activation, parent and facility notification, medical information on file.

Vehicle Breakdown

Child safety protocol, backup vehicle dispatch, facility and parent notification.

Emergency Evacuation

Vehicle evacuation procedure, child headcount, safe assembly point protocol.

Unauthorized Pickup

Identity verification against authorization form, refusal protocol, immediate facility and parent contact.

Severe Weather

Route modification or cancellation protocol, shelter-in-place procedure if needed.

Emergency evacuation drills are conducted a minimum of 3 times per year.
